In this component of the semester we learned about circuits, how they're made, what they are made from, and how they work. To start off this we got into partners and talked bout the box with supplies that we had gotten to build circuits with. We talked about the different parts of a circuit such as the resistors, LED lights, and the wires. We also talked about how to calculate the amount of amps going through the LED (Volts/Resistance). We talked about the different colours on a resistor and they mean as well. We also learned a way to remember the colours with a little saying. Bad Beer Rots Our Young Guts But Vodka Goes Willingly. This saying stands for the colours black, brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, gray, and white.
We made 3 other circuits before moving on to the final task of this component. For the other 3 circuits we made, we compared the brightness of each bulb once they were connected to an energy source. We saw the 330 being the brightest, 470 was second brightest, the third brightest was the series circuit with the 330 and 470, and the least brightest was the 1000.
The final thing we did in this component was make a blinking robot on the breadboard using a booklet that Mr. Shaw had given to us, it had the schematic drawing of the robot. We looked at the schematic drawing and made the circuit. For us to make the robot the materials that we needed were 2 resistors that have a value of 330 and 2 with a value of 10K. We also used 2 capacitors with the value of 100 uf. We also needed 2 transistors and 4 LEDs.
